Inside, the atmosphere is relaxed and no-frills, where the focus remains steadfastly on the food and the people sharing the table. The clatter of wok cooking and the inviting aroma of freshly prepared dishes lend a comfortable, almost homey rhythm to the pace of the meal. Fast, flavored, and fabulous and if you like it pepper hot they have that too. If you’re looking for a casual yet yummy Chinese meal look no further. Order take out or dine in either way you will enjoy large portions and great tastes. Our first time dinning in and we had Steffi as our waitress she was very friendly and attentive to all our requests. I had chefs general chicken and my wife had broccoli beef and sesame chicken both came with rice and mine with chow main. We had veggie egg rolls as an appetizers. The restaurant is located in an industrial strip mall and has good parking. It is decorated in a minimalistic oriental motif. Bottom line if you want high end fine dinning go to PF’s if you want a hardy casual neighborhood dinner Hong Kong Dinner is our go to.

This is one of the hidden gems of Reno Chinese restaurants, hidden away in a sort of industrial area of officers and small industry. It's worth seeking out. Plenty of parking in the lot. Inside is very basic, so don't expect some fancy place all decorated fancy with dragons all over. It's basic and they do a lot of to go orders. The food is fantastic and super big portions for a decent price. The lunch combo plates are pretty standard and give you a ton of food. No soup served with the specials though. What really shines are the few dishes I tried. The general chicken is the best general chicken that I've ever had in my life! Most places just serve these pre battered frozen chicken nuggets ... NO, not here, they have hand cut nice big real pieces of chicken slathered in a wonderful sauce, just try this one! Another is the salt and pepper pork chops (bone in), OMG, this cook knows how to cook these just right, so super tender to the bite, not like my mother's shoe leather chops, where you gotta pull with you fingers while holding with your teeth! The flavor is so wonderful! Also got the beef chow fun with black bean sauce. This is way better than the standard chow fun served dry style. They use fresh rice noodles as opposed to places that use the dried noodles and re-hydrate them. You can tell the difference, just like with fresh pasta vs the dried stuff. Check out this place if you have the time. Only closed on Sundays.

LATEST UPDATE: I just had the best Singapore Noodles I ever had in this area of Northern NV. Singapore Noodles are the thin rice noodles (Vermicelli) wok fried with yellow curry flavor with chicken and shrimp included. Hong Kong Diner put more stuff in this dish than other places around here and it's so beautiful when it comes to the table. Order the Singapore Noodles! UPDATE: OK, last time I told you what NOT to order, but this time I'll tell you some good dishes to get! One thing is the crispy fried salt pepper tofu and the other is the salt pepper pork chops with the bone. This cook cooks the pork chop so perfect, crispy on he outside and still moist and tender inside! The tofu is the only way I eat tofu ... deep fried! The egg drop soup is great too, not like the cheap versions that come with most lunch specials, this is made to order, not outta a big vat like most places. There ARE some good things to get here. I gotta warn people, I just had one of the most god awful dishes I ever had at a Chinese restaurant. Do not EVER get the Sesame Beef here at Hong King Diner. The beef is tough, but worse is this thick battered coating that is on every piece. Properly done, this coating is supposed to be a light coating adding just a little texture to the beef, but here is like a freakin CORN DOG! Little meat inside surrounded by thick batter ... NOT GOOD! I took pics to show. The other dish that is not so good is the Mongolian Beef, way too soy saucy and too many onions. Don't get the Mongolian Beef! The egg rolls are too greasy and fat, skip the egg rolls! see the pics. They still have some good stuff here, like the General Chicken that doesn't have a thick corn dog like batter on it. It's thin and uses real cut up chicken, not those frozen nuggets in a bag mast places use. You just gotta know what to order here and the Mongolian Beef and Sesame Beef are NOT the food to order!

If you’re looking for delicious, clean, fresh tasting Chinese food, go here! Food is so good and the portions are huge! They also have kid meals (pic with rangoons). The place is simple and clean. The crew are nice and friendly.

1The food here was outstanding! One of the best Chinese places in Reno. I had the General Chicken plate with pork chow mein and my wife had garlic and ginger beef. We also shared an order of salt and pepper fish, which was amazing. Highly recommended.

I've been to their other location but I'm glad I finally tried this one as it's closer to where I live. Went with my friend the other day and had a good overall experience. The food was good and the portions were very generous. I got one of their combination plates, in my case the bbq pork w/ veggies and the cashew chicken with fried pork rice. I would definitely come back. Atmosphere was pretty relaxing too and the chairs were comfy.
